Learn specific strategies for teaching nonfiction reading and writing skills across the curriculum. The presenter will discuss and model twelve essential nonfiction skills, such as identifying main idea, inferencing, using text structure, and activating prior knowledge. Participants will receive a handout filled with reproducible examples of strategies and activities they can use in their classrooms. They will also be directed to resources for finding additional strategies and activities.
