This session will examine three types of assessments that promote student learning: pre-assessments, formative assessments, and summative assessments. The presenter will discuss the role of each in showing individual students' progress and growth as learners and will look at both the standards and individual learning objectives as the basis for developing assessment criteria for differentiated products and performances. This session will offer practical ways to use this criteria to construct complex rubrics, minirubrics, and criteria cards.
