Autism spectrum disorders are complex, and students in the spectrum need support, education, positive practice, and opportunities to learn from their peers. Many times, behavioral problems, sensory integration issues, or deficits in social skills prevent these students from thriving in today's classroom. This multimedia session will interactively describe the ranges of the autism spectrum and discuss eight strategies teachers can use to shape positive behaviors, foster inclusion, and promote advocacy. Participants will engage in role-playing activities and receive handouts.
