Effective planning results in better teaching. Focusing on the relationship of assessment, curriculum, and instruction, the presenters will demonstrate the importance of formative assessments in addressing instructional standards and student achievement. The presenters will model the cycle of research-based item development for formative assessments and the use of data from those assessments to meet individual student needs. Participants will develop their own standards-based assessment items and differentiated activities for addressing gaps in student achievement.
