Ysleta Independent School District (Texas) received national recognition for high performance for students of low-income and who are English language learners. Although individual campuses were successful in increasing student performance, levels of collaboration and collegiality among administrators had hit a glass ceiling. The transformation to greater levels of performance was achieved by focusing on emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships through professional learning communities and principles such as the Fish Philosophy and Failure is NOT an Option.
