This session will build on the article of the same title in Educational Leadership (November 2005) to show how research-based approaches to improve teachers' minute-by-minute and day-by-day classroom assessment practices can increase student engagement and responsibility for their own learning, improve student-teacher relationships, differentiate instruction, reduce achievement gaps, and increase overall levels of student achievement. Participants will also learn how these approaches have been successfully implemented in U.S. classrooms.
