In this presentation, urban principals from Lansing Public Schools (Michigan) will share lessons learned from leading in-building teacher development projects. As a member of a university-based leadership study group, each principal designed and led a project that addressed teachers' learning needs relative to building-level school improvement goals. Projects ranged from book clubs and focused professional development to the development of cross-district curricular teams. The presenters will discuss the rewards and challenges of this work.
