Up to 10 percent of students have diagnosable mental health disorders, and another 10 percent have emotional problems that interfere with their behavioral, social, and academic performance. General education teachers, who have had little training in understanding or accommodating these students, teach most of them in regular education classrooms. This session's presenter will describe common mental health problems and suggest specific classroom accommodations for students with these disorders.
