Session #: 309-2337
Presenter(s): Carol Ann Tomlinson Session Length: 1 hr. 30 min. Event: 2009 Annual Conference Date: March 13-16, 2009
As academic diversity becomes a defining factor in many schools and classrooms, leaders at school and district levels express a strong interest in helping teachers develop attitudes and practices that vigorously support the academic success of a full range of learners. Nonetheless, the prospect of making a schoolwide change to effectively differentiated classrooms is daunting. This session will provide specific guidance about leading for significant change from our best understanding of the change process and the experiences of two schools that moved successfully to schoolwide differentiation. The presenter and participants will examine the role of the leader and the nature and contents of professional development, and evaluate the impact of the change.
