Statesville Christian School (North Carolina) has created a middle school program that seeks to develop the whole child by matching the developmental needs of young adolescents and the school environment. The school divides students and faculty into "societies" for the purpose of building relationships and serving the community. Societies engage students in competitive activities ranging from academic to athletic to team-building, connect students to the community through sustained service to a particular organization, and facilitate healthy interpersonal interactions.
