Session #: 789-505
Presenter(s): Howard Schubiner Session Length: 1 hr. 30 min. Event: 2009 Conference Date: December 7-13, 2009
With chronic pain increasing worldwide and traditional medical approaches often ineffective, neuroscience gives us new insights into how chronic pain can become a pattern as neurologic pathways develop in response to strong emotions. Investigations into chronic pain histories reveal how childhood stressors create emotional memories, that when triggered by similar events in adolescence/ adulthood, create pain and other symptoms. Learn how a randomized, month-long, controlled trial of therapeutic writing, mindfulness meditation, and exercises to reprogram pain pathways leads to significantly decreased symptoms of fibromyalgia.
